Welcome to the Jenny Gilmore Website
Welcome to my website and thanks for taking the time to have a look through. I hope you find it useful and I’m keen to hear any comments that you might have.
My hope is that this web site provides an opportunity to share some of my ideas and my work in an accessible way. I also hope that it provides an avenue to establish contact with others who might be interested in similar issues and I hope to hear from you if the issues I talk about here are also of interest to you.
I am a social worker having trained at the University of Queensland, School of Social Work and Social Policy, graduating in 1986. Since graduation I’ve worked as a youth worker; coordinator of several community based services in the areas of youth accommodation, eating issues, and domestic violence; as a rehabilitation counsellor, as a lecturer in social work and social policy; and more recently, in my own business as a counsellor and consultant.
As you will see, the two main parts of my work are my private practice (Counselling, Professional Supervision, Training, Organisational Consultancy) and my Research. In both these areas my overall aim is the same – to explore ways of creating a more peaceful and equitable world. I am particularly interested in the dynamics of social change, or more particularly, in the forces that inhibit positive change in our own lives and socially / globally. This is the focus of my practice and my writing and I look forward to sharing more of these ideas with others in the coming times.
Thanks
Jenny Gilmore

This year is an exciting one for me. I am continuing to write about trauma and my work with survivors of childhood trauma. I am also going to be working closely with Peakcare to deliver an integrated package of training to the community sector, specifically those engaged in work with children and young people who may have experienced trauma in their childhoods. This is a lovely partnership for me and I'm very much looking forward to these training sessions. For more information on the training, you can go to the Peakcare website - www.peakcare.org.au/training
I am also hoping to make regular Blog posts this year! I've posted my first for the year and hope to follow it soon with an interesting story about Freud!!
And of course, my practice continues to grow as I work with wonderful and courageous people who wish to process the difficulties in their lives so they might be free to live as they choose.

WISE WORDS:
Waking up this morning, I smile. Twenty-four brand new hours are before me. I vow to live fully in each moment and to look at all beings with eyes of compassion – Thich Nhat Hanh.
John Briere Training in 2011:
One of the biggest contemporary influences in my work is John Briere. Many of you will know of him and his excellent work with trauma survivors. He is coming to Brisbane for two days in May and I recommend him to you as a wonderful and sensitive trainer. For more information you can go to the Delphi Centre web page - www.delphicentre.com.au
Also I encourage you all to check out the web site of this wonderful group called The Elders. They are a group of prominent world leaders who have decided to use their political power for change in some of the most critical areas of the world. Their web site is www.theelders.org
